The other day I was noticing the Utah BFT board (not something I do regularly) and I noticed they have all sorts of links on their page.
General Page
Fly Fishing
For Sale
Off Topic
Fishing Challenges
Hunting
Fishing Gear and Techniques
Fishing Holes
Trophy Room
and more...
But the best part...
A fishing report archive broken down into major lakes/areas!
I'm not saying that all those links are good links, but it is a lot easier to navigate depending on what I'm looking for.
I also think it would be valuable to seperate Eastern Idaho Fisherman with the Western Idaho Fisherman or break down fishing reports of major lakes.
Just a thought.

I think we'll see at least the east and west sides split and is why we have a couple new mods.

As the Idaho board grows you will see more options such as fly fishing, ice fishing, etc... The problem with archives is someone has to be willing to go back and split the old posts up into regions, or lakes etc... A while back some of the Utah moderators got energetic and did that as a service, but it isn't updated regulary.
As far as dividing the state into regions I would be against that unless the number of posters just gets so big it is unmanagable. I joke about our divided regions, but I love reading about all of Idaho. I also enjoy reading about all the different kinds of fishing even though I choose to do some more than others.
I am open to suggestions but I feel that with a hunting board, a for saleboard, and an off topic board we are pretty well covered.
BFT also has great boards with great people on a whole lot of other topics. I personally think the flyfishing and tubing boards are great. Check them out.

I kinda like the idea of splitting the state BUT the minute we do it then the central and north will want their own eventually as we grow.
We all are Idahoans and we should all stick together. I like reading all the posts no matter where they are from. Eventually I'm going to try some of that eastern stuff now that our club is disbanding after this year. Also get back into trout fishing along with the bass.

I hope we don't split up yet any ways I like seeing whats going on in other areas that I haven't been to.

I'm in the central part and I don't want any splits. I only come to this page and read all the topics. Even if I don't fish in the lake posted about, I learn new techniques. I don't want to have to click several different pages to get the news I can get with the one small page now. On some message boards with lots of categories, I see good topics die quickly because they are posted in slow moving categories. The same topic would get plenty of responses on one main page.

Maybe a thread "Fishing Reports Only". That would be very valuable to me and everyone else looking for the "right spot."

I also like reading about other parts of the state. I don't think we need a split. Don't fix whats not broken. Just my 2 cents.

One thing along those lines that can help is if people clearly lable their posts so that we know what the intention of the subject is without getting into it.
For example if it is a report. Lable it Teton R. Report. If it is a question than people need to lable it Question about the Teton R. By clearly labling reports people can pick and choose more accurately what they want to read and they can also look up information in search archives quickly and easily.
Kind of like a lot of things in life sometimes less is more. If we clean up what we already have it won't overburden the moderators and people can get the information they want.
Thanks

This was something Tubedude did some years past, being retired gives one more time. Those of us that are still moderating on the utah board find that dirty word "Work" keeps getting in our way when it comes to updating those boards and just as Windriver said:
