I was needing to blow off some steam so I drove up to Rockport after work. Spent a few hours on the park side and a short while before dark near the dam. I went with 4" Yamamoto grubs and a Matzuo "Sammy" clone topwater. The tiny smallies just destroyed the grubs (literally tore them up)! Even got some topwater action too near the boat ramp and backs of grassy coves. Caught a 5 inch smallie on a 4" topwater bait! I think the crayfish in this lake make these smallies especially aggressive. Ended up with about a dozen to a footlong. Would've killed for sure with ultralight tackle and mini-jigs. Good times...
