I fished the Snake near Murtaugh this afternoon and had quick action for bass. I used a float and a worm and drifted it through the current. It was a lot of fun. I had forgotten how much fun bass fishing can be on a hot summer afternoon. I also caught one HUGE carp that took off like a freight train and broke my line and one large sucker fish of some kind. All in all, it was a good trip for some early afternoon fishing.

Goodon ya!!!! [

] Am really interested and jealous since smallies are my favorite, esepecially in moving water. All my spots down hear have gone dry or have dog restrictions that turn me off. I used to go to Swan Falls, drive N.W. to the end of the road and have a ball with my buddy, Sparky. The combination of distance (I'm in Ogden) and my buddy recovering from a shoulder injury has stopped me from going. Your post hints at a much closer area that I could try on my own. Problem is, I'd be a foot soldier, so I'm not sure how I would do? [frown] If you would like to give up some more specifics as to where, size and chances for success, I would appreciate it. PM me if best. [

Thanks for the report. Never fished that part of the snake. I heard there is a good bass fishing store in Murtaugh that has all the good stuff for bass fishing the snake river. Is that true?

That area above twin falls dam to milner is so overlooked that I don't know how much it is even hit. There is a lot of that area that is good bass fishing but is just not touched. Crawdad patterns produce well. Ron

Its true that the area doesn't recieve too much action. It is pretty isolated and there are only a few access points, but those are some of its attractions as well. Bridges and roads into the canyon are few and far between. This time of year though, the low water in the river in that stretch makes it very fishable on foot once you've gotten into the canyon. Just watch out for snakes and sprained ankles on the big rocks.
