Took two of my good friends to the Pig(Porcupine) today for some kokanne action.

New Scotty riggers on the boat were all set up and ready to go. We hit the water just before sun up. Beautiful morning with a light breeze.

The first two fish of the morning were 14" browns at around 40'. Both were released to be caught another day. soon as the sun peaked over the hill, the kokes turned on. It was pretty much non stop action with 30-45 min lulles here and there.

Water temps were around 73 deg. best depths were between 40-44 feet. the hot set up was a RMT pink splatter dodger with a pink haze squid or a cotton candy squid was a close second.

Between the three of us we brought home a smoker full. lost as many. Great day with some friends at the pig.

Good luck if you go up!!!!

Its about average for the year, the ramp is getting pretty steep to launch. I dont think I will go back up this year. Small boats would be ok,

Thanks Buddy

Nice report and pictures Mark, were any of the kokes over 13"?
When you were talking about the ramp getting steeper, were you talking about the one in back or the one toward the front?

LOL Curtis, that was my next question.[Smile]

We had a few approaching that length Curt, rest were all about 11-12. We went to the back to launch so I was referring to the back ramp.

Small boats would be fine, Larger ones like this one would be tougher. They are releasing water fromt he spill way down low so its gonna continue to drop[frown]

[quote RILEYFISH] Larger ones like this one would be tougher.[/quote]

Looks like the Pig hasn't slowed down from last weekend.
You really got into them.
I wouldn't mind a little slower action, if the fish were bigger.

I keep hearing that harvesting the Kokanee out of there is the answer.
I'm sure willing to do my part.

I totally agree with you 100 %

I will continue to do my part. Dang they are tasty little crittersSmile

Here is a question for all you koke nuts. how easy is it to get to these critters and catch them from a tube? Vetical jigging? All I ever hear about is trolling.[Image: dumb.gif]
[signature]
If you have electronics on your tube i feel taht you could easily jig them up. Small electric on your tube could get you around. We marked scores of fish stacked up like cord wood all over and you should be able to bangthem out that way. Good luck and share with us later how you did if you make it up.

Will do. Any recommendation on color of jig or baits to use?
[signature]
I would try as small of a pink Buzz bomb as I could find
[signature]
what the limit on kokes up there?
[signature]
Not enough, need to go back to the old 24 limit.[fishin]

i was up there on saturday on my float tube and i couldnt manage to catch anything!!! i had a few bites and that was it. i had my fish finder on my tube and had tons of fish all around me but i couldnt get them to bite at all!!! i was on the water around 7 and fished till about 12is. man you guys sure smoked'em! im very envious of your catch!! porcupine and me sure dont mix very well. i have a hard time figuring that place out. i sometimes wonder why i keep fishing it, probably because its one of the most beautiful lakes in northern utah Imho. well good for you guys. at least someone caught something.
