Im going to take my girlfriend and her 5yr little brother fishing today. I was thinking about going to the hagerman ponds, ive never really been there before. Whats good to use down there and where? And wheres the sturgeon? In the creek below the hatchery? Ill try to find it on google earth.

Thanks BFT, any help is appreciated!

It has been 25 years since I fished the Hagerman ponds so I'm not much help there.

For good information try to give us a couple of days notice so those who know what they are doing can see your post.

oster ponds is alright for trout fishing... ive actually not caught one using bait this year only a little yellow mepps. if youre up for a walk, check out the bass ponds. a lot of bluegill in there.

sturgeon would be at the lower salmon dam on the west side (not easy to get to) or the upper salmon falls project A. this one is the best. i have a video linked on my profile of one caught there but i dunno were to link it.

There are Strugen in the Hagerman WMA. The F&G planted a lot of them over the years. I have not fished for them. Ron

there are sturgeon in the wma... theryre not as big as the river sturgeon, at least none ive seen or heard of yet, but it is awesome to be the one guy pullin in a monster why everyone else catches 6 inch trout lol.

how was the bass fishing up there? theyre hittin pretty good up at king hill but good luck finding one thats legal sized.

i may be going down to the ponds tonight... any spot that has waterflow in or out of the pond will have some next to it scavenging.

I believe I hooked into a sturgeon in Riley Cr. Pond a while back. Whatever it was, it towed me all over the pond for about an hour before I cut it loose. I knew that there was no way I was going to get whatever it was in on my fly rod, and I would end up breaking something trying.

I had on a hare's ear fly and was just sitting there with the fly resting on the bottom while I was looking in my fly box, when all of a sudden my line takes off. It was a good thing my pole was under my arm and not just setting on the tube.

It could have been a huge cat fish, but I think it was bigger.

Now there is a fish story of the one that got away!!!

yes i heard they are in the creek. Is that the creek below the hatchery? How do you get there?

Im glad you saved your pole lol. I bet that was a thrill though. To bad you didnt have a little heavier tackle to get him in.
