So I've got a question for anyone out there. I'm going with the in-laws to Fish Lake this week. I've never been there but I've read that there are some areas to fly fish. I'd like to go out and give the streams a try while everyone else is at the lake. So my question is how is the fly fishing there? Should I even worry about taking my pole? Are the streams very far from the lake? Also I'm curious where to go and what types of flies I should use. Sorry for all the questions, but if anyone wouldn't mind giving me a little Fish Lake 101 that would be great. Thanks for your help.

I can't help you too much with Fish Lake itself, but there are several good streams around there. You may want to try the Fremont River or UM creek. Mill Meadows and Forsyth aren't too far from there. Mill Meadows is a personal favorite. Try the inlets for perch and near the dike for trout. I've never fished Johnson, but it's smaller than Fish lake, so you may be able to find fish easier. There are even Muskies in there, so if you have a float tube or boat, it may be worth working the weedlines with large streamers.

Sevenmile creek is just a 15 minute drive from Fish Lake towards Johnson Res. Its a great time fly fishing! Mostly little Brookies but every once in a while you nab your self a nicer fish!

+1 The Upper Fremont is good too. Now is Terestrial time. So Hoppers, beetles, with any little flashy bead head dropper is good right now. I would do both seven mile just east of Johnson and upper fremont anywhere above mill meadow.

I hear a lot about them but I havent fished them much... what are some good patterns? Are they all really small? I like big foam deals. I dont see too well.
