I went down to fish Lake with a few friends over the weekend. It rained off and on from Thursday through Saturday evening. Most of the other anglers we talked to were complaining that the fishing was really slow. On 7/29 we fished from the shore from 8pm to 10 pm. All we got was a bunch of nibbles from Perch. On 7/30 we fished from 1pm to 7pm via a pontoon boat. We caught most of the Splake using Gary Yamamoto glow in the dark tube jig grubs tipped with Perch pieces. The Splake would get super aggressive and start slamming our jigs right around the time the rain would start back up. The rainbows took a few lures but

ly most of them were caught using powerbait. On 7/31 we cruised in the pontoon just north of Joe's Bush to catch some Perch for Bait. We spent about 3 hours also trying to catch the Tiger Musky but we had no luck on that. From what I heard the state record for spear fishing Tiger Musky was broke last week at Fish Lake. We caught a bunch of Perch and then headed to the South end of the Lake. After no luck we cruised back over to the middle of bay around Joe's Bush and Bowery. We had our best luck at this area. We caught several trout and put a lot of them back so we could catch them again ice fishing this winter.

i may be wrong but i have never heard of tiger musky being in Fishlake. I think you have heard bad info

They don't have a ton of them in there because they had to swim up from Johnsons. There are also some huge carp and sucker fish in Fish Lake. Next time you go down to Fish Lake check the pictures in the lodge. That is your proof right there.

Makes you wonder if the Muskies will change the fishing there at all

I found out about Muskies being in there this winter while ice fishing. A DWR guy came to check our catches and licenses. I asked him about the Muskies being in there and he said that they have been in there for years, coming from Johnson's reservoir. He said in the summer you can go over where the creek comes in and you can see the big muskies in the shallows. He also said that due to the amount of feed in there, i.e. perch and rainbows, the muskies won't effect anything at all. He said Fish Lake is fairly unique for the amount of fish and different types of fish that are able to survive there. I told him I thought that maybe the muskies would compete with the bigger lake trout for some of the grub, but he said that that isn't really the case do to the amount of food.
I also asked about the effect fishermen have when they keep those big lakers in there. He said that the lakers keep a really good balance. When one is caught or killed, it just opens up another slot for another one to get that big. He said those biggun's are eating 16 inch trout and that is why you don't catch alot using a 3 inch tube jig.
Kind of interesting...

Not much. They're sterile and what few make it from Johnson's just make Fishlake more interesting.
