ATHENS, Ala. - Anthony Revis won the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Weekend Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Tennessee East Division 4 tournament, held July 31, 2010, on Watts Bar Lake out of Tom Fuller Park in Rockwood.

With intermittent rain dousing the 39,000-acre Tennessee River impoundment, the Dayton, Tenn., angler used that to his advantage. He landed five bass weighing 19.20 pounds with a 4.60-pound kicker to collect $3,353.

"The rain was a big factor," Revis explained. "When it started raining, it oxygenated the water and made the fish livelier. Then, I started getting more bites. I used a big crankbait in gray ghost color. I fished around laydowns in water about six to eight feet deep and caught fish almost all day. I culled out about six keepers."

In second for the 87 boaters, Jay Smith of Fort Payne, Ala., landed a five-bass tournament limit weighing 15.67 pounds. He earned $1,676 for the effort plus a bonus as the highest Triton Gold finisher.

"I was catching my fish in two to three feet of water by throwing a Spro Popping Frog," Smith said. "I also caught one on a buzzbait. I had one about 6 pounds that hit the lure three different times, but I never got it on the hook."

Fishing the river, Galen James of Sale Creek, Tenn., landed in third with five bass going 15.16 pounds. However, he took division lunker honors with a 5.15-pounder. For third place, he collected $1,118 with a $435 bonus for the big bass.

"The big fish was the first fish of the day for me, but it took me about two hours to catch it," James admitted. "I started with topwaters and couldn't catch anything, so I started flipping in two to three feet of water with a black and blue jig. That's when I caught the big one. I flipped all day and caught my fifth fish at about 2 p.m. I didn't cull anything."

In fourth, Edward Gettys, Jr. of Scottsboro, Ala., landed five bass going 14.78 pounds topped by a 4.17-pounder. Shawn Galyon of Kingston, Tenn., rounded out the top five boaters with four bass at 14.11 pounds, including one 4.58-pounder.

In the Co-Angler Division, Kenneth Palmer of Lenoir, Tenn., caught three bass for 9.12 pounds with one going 3.64 pounds to take the win. He went home with $1,634. He caught his fish on a brown jig.

"I had my limit by 7:30 a.m., and had the last fish I weighed by 8:30 a.m.," he said.

In second for the co-anglers, Glenn Scott of Kingston, Tenn., caught a division limit of three bass weighing 8.42 pounds. He pocketed $817.

"I caught most of my fish on Texas-rigged green pumpkin plastics fished in about 10 feet of water," Scott said. "I caught the first one just swimming the worm back to the boat."

Charles Anderson of Rocky Face, Ga., landed in third with three keepers going 8.26 pounds. He won $545.

"I threw a Crème purple worm on a 3/8-ounce Strike King shaky head with 8-pound fluorocarbon line," Anderson said. "We were sitting in about 20 feet of water."

In fourth for the co-anglers, Jerry Goodner of Cleveland, Tenn., landed a three-bass bag weighing 7.66 pounds and anchored by a 3.62-pounder. Johnathon Seaborn of Brilliant, Ala., followed with two bass and 7.65 pounds.

Dennis Walden of Ten Mile, Tenn., only landed one bass, but made it count. He went home with the tournament big bass title and $208 after catching a 6.13-pounder.

"I caught it about an hour before the weigh-in while fishing in about 14 feet of water," Walden said. "It hit a blue and chartreuse crankbait."
