this has been my first year ever fishing for kokes and that would be my first adult male ever caught. I hope I get to catch somemore that one was about 3lbs and put up a heck of a fight. We saw them jumping ever where .

The last few years I've noticed them turning in mid August at Ririe. I've also seen them running upstream from Island Park in late August, early September.

I'm heading up Friday morning to try some bass fishing up there. Looks like I may have to try for some kokes, too. I haven't fish for them in years. What part of the lake are they jumping all over?? And what were you using?? If I may ask. Thanks!

They are more fun to catch if you use the low drag pop gear like a Dee's Diamond Flasher instead of a Ford fender or something.

I've never liked the Ford fenders. You fight the gear and not the fish. I'll have to try Dee's.
At Cascade I usually just drag a rapala while everyone else is using pop gear and I usually do just as good.

When I use flashers, I just hook them directly to my downrigger ball, then run a wedding ring about 15-20 feet behind from a clip set about 2 ft. above the ball. That way you can use any kind or size of trolling gear you want with no drag when you're fighting the fish. Also I run just a wedding ring or hoochie and a dodger without flashers. I've also used Macks Lure brand Flashlites Mylar blade flashers when I'm using leadcore line, very little resistance. Hooking up metal trolling blades to your mainline is gruesome. [:p]
