I called TR20bh to see if he wanted to fish the Dogfight tonight and he told me that he and his wife were fishing it, so I asked him if his son would fish it with me. I got a call a while later saying that it was a go so, we met at HBSP just as the really nasty weather looked like it was about to hit. I found out that as I was running across Harrison Bay that the power to my GPS was somehow jogged loose and so we were going to have to go without GPS for the night. We had planned to fish offshore areas and it was going to be tough without a working GPS. We ran to a spot that was a flat next to the river channel that was loaded with bait and bass. Off and on the fish would bust bait and sometimes we could throw and get a couple with topwater baits. Most of the fish came on plastic worms or jigging spoons. For a while I was catching a fish on almost every cast with a jigging spoon but most of them were yellow bass, not LMs. We knew we were around a lot of fish when Brent caught bass on the first two casts that he made with his 11 inch worm. Brent had a few good takes with a big swim bait but he never landed a LM with it. We caught lots of good LMs in the 2.5-3lb range but could not get a kicker fish. We ended up with 8.16lbs, just getting into the money. We had a great time catching lots of fish. We fished for the last half hour in a cut that ran into the main river channel catching a few more bass but didn't hook up with the kicker that we needed to win. Thanks Ben for sharing Brent with me tonight. We ended up getting sprinkled on but the bad weather stayed South of us.
