Met Mr. State Record Spotted bass holder emoBig at the marina around 4 this afternoon for a few hours of fishing.
Boat traffic was worse than I've seen up there in a while. There was no calm water on that lake until around 7:30 LOL.
We started off at the dam fishing dropshots... didnt get the first bite there, moved on to a little pocket or two in Inidan creek. First or second cast had a spot nail my fisheadspin about 1-2FT from the boat as I was getting ready to make another cast, all I did was set the hook and he was in the boat emoUp
Fished with the spins and blades in there for a good 30 minutes or so with no more luck. Headed up the lake a good ways hoping the boat traffic wouldnt be as bad. Got into a creek a pretty good ways, of course there are boats all up through there putting off big waves emoBang Went ahead and fished it hoping it would slow down after a little while. Not much luck for us in there, I believe we caught 2 more fish over the next hour. One of them was a decent but skinny spot going 17 or 18" off a shakeyhead.
By then it was probably about 6:15. Fished a couple of the big major points, only boating a few on the dropshot. Headed back down the lake and fished one of my little secret hidden points, picked up 5 more or so with two LM.
After that we fished another 3 more points, ending the day with a total of 17 bass. Not bad at all but still, not great compared to the way I've been catching them lately. Fish were on those points pretty good, but I think all the boat traffic had them not being too active.
Wish we could've done a little better, maybe next time. I know Jack and I cant wait until Fall and Winter, some of the best days to fish Parksville! emoToast
Also the water temps were anywhere between 86F and 88F today.
