Been a couple of weeks since I have been on the water so I decided to do some junk fishing today and Alvin and Tyler decided to join me. The plan was to head downtown and chase some of the schools of cats I found a couple of weeks ago. They are still down there.
The cats are holding in tight shools downtown and we were targeting them using drop shot 4" Gulp minnows. That area is pretty tough to fish due to the rough bottom and we lost quite a few rigs today but we found if you fish across the current instead of with the current the hang ups were less. The cats were holding in 10-15 feet of water and were quite aggressive. We ended up boating 13 blue cats (largest was 10 lbs) and one channel. We hooked and lost another 5-6 cats, got a tolken spot and two google eyes. Not a bad few hours on the river.
Saw Labman this morning and on the lake and I don't they they fared too well today. I will say the bass fishing is as tough down there as I have ever seen it. Not sure what is going on but this was the 2nd trip in a row down there that I just could not figure out the bass. Better luck next time.
