Went down to Swan Falls dam 8/6 about 7:00 pm and fished till 8/7 at 9:00. Took my new boat down (no more shore fishing). Ended up with a 8" perch, 12 cats, 1 carp and a squaw fish. Pretty good night.

cool report ! any size to the cats? what bait worked best ?

Cats were 2-3 lbs, worms was the only thing they were hitting. They were just sitting there sucking them in most of the time. A few hit hard but most were soft hits.

Has anyone fished the up river side of the dam. I've seen a few boats up there.

be careful above the dam about 10 miles up the river you will get into lava shelfs, that will open boats like a pop can. How far downriver did you go? There are some rocks that hide under the water that are the size of a car so be real careful down river.

I was just on the dam side of the island. I anchored in about 15' of water and casted near the weed beds. My partner was fishing off of the weed beds and not catching anything. He thought I was using special worms. I told him no you just have to kiss them before casting.

above the dam can be very good for smallmouth at times, and occasional school of crappie . caught a few bullheads. never tried very long for channel cats. it may be awesome ! never know........ and yes once you get past the 2nd pumphouse it can get real shallow.

there is a web site northwest jet boats that if you become a member has a ton of info on the rivers. They have some pics of the rocks that are in that section. And they will open your eyes for sure.
