Anbody fished Lake Lowell lately?

I couldn't put together a good day of fishing out there all year.[frown] Was it an off year for everybody? I could usually put together a couple of 10-20 fish days there but not this year. My best day was 3 fish with only 1 over 16"

I waded the edge of the smart weed one day last week, fishing a Ribbit soft frog. I caught 2 fish in the first 100 yards, one 12" and one 15", and then never had another strike as the cover changed to bull rushes and weeds. This was about 1 PM under blazing sun, but it was comfortable wading wet.

yeah it's been slow all year. I may try it in my float tube one evem\ning after work if these evening thunderstorms would mellow out!

I did pretty good out there in May and June but haven't been out since. Everytime I went I caught 12 to 15 nice largemouth in the 2 to 3 lb range.

I guess I kept hitting it wrong. Now that I don't have a bass boat anymore I can't hop around. I gotta stick pretty much in the same area in my float tube....

I just fished the weedline on the Caldwell side mostly and then near the access areas all along lakeshore drive. All that water really gets beat to death................

I waded the lake in front of my house again this afternoon. I caught a 15" bass right off, but then nothing else. I fished for about an hour. The bass was caught on a Swimming Senko in blue/black color. The wind was quite strong with white caps rolling down the lake. The lake had dropped 8" since my last excursion. In a week or two the smartweed will be out of the water, and the equalizer and Gotts Point will be the places to fish.

You know I haven't ried Gotts point yet this year. We used to fish that all the time. Maybe I'll throw my Tube in there and try that.

You can't drive out there anymore. The USFWS locked the gate after some thugs trashed the outhouse. It was easier to lock it up than maintain and patrol the area. The CC Sheriff's office volunteered to patrol the area, but the "conservationists" refused the help.

How close can you get to it in a car? I can pack my tube down to the water if it's not too far....
