Fished Twin Lakes last night. Fishing was pretty slow on the south lake. There was another boat out there, couldn't tell how they were doing. It is pretty low. North Lake was better on the bite, pretty fast, but it was getting dark and the young boy was gettin tired. Hope this helps if anyone is going.

Thanks! We've been thinking about it. What did you catch? Any crappie?

We fished it Sunday and bite was on for trout! A Guy said he got some crappies of the dam. We only got trout anywhere we fished though.

Most were crappie, that is what I was after. No perch though, few blue gill and a few trout.

Well, we went to Twin yesterday. Unfortunately we didn't do as well as you did. It was slow for crappie. Timing could have been part of it -- we got there at 1 and left at about 7PM.
My most exciting and probably largest catch of the day was at the start. I powered up my trolling motor on my Scadden Renegade as I started across the north lake. About midway across I picked up a really nice trout on my fly. He came up, jumped twice, then headed right at me. I was busy stripping line in like crazy when he had the grace and ingenuity to run my line right into the trolling motor that I had forgotten to shut off. I remembered it then!! He jumped again to say goodbye as he thumbed his nose at me and shook my hook out. I was left in the middle of the lake with my fly line twisted into an unbelievable mess that was still attached to the prop. At least it was a nice day for a row across the lake!
Once on the other shore I managed to get the line unwrapped but it was still twisted into a ball. Of course it was one of the few times that it was the only line I had with me, so I had to figure something out. I got back out into the lake and spent the next half hour with the trolling motor on high so that I could drag my line behind me and untwist it by hand and with the drag of the water. Actually it came out without much damage and worked ok. The rest of the day was very nice with little wind.
We caught mostly trout from 10 to 15 inches. Next most common catch was bluegill -- about 4 inches long though. [inline PICT2065a.JPG]
We did catch a few crappie, but not many and they were spread around.

I also caught this nice bass and a perch that was almost the same size!!

Good on ya. [

] Still looking for bassies. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for the time being.

I have tangled my flyline in the trolling motor. What a pain. I used to troll flies with my canoe quite a bit. I started to carry a wrench with me to take off my prop and untangle the line after this happened a couple of times.
I have never liked the North Lake. Guess I'll have to give it a try again.

The catching for the day may not have made a difference in which lake we were in, but I think I prefer the south lake. The catching was slow in the north lake, and one boat of skiers were obnoxious. There did seem to be a fair number of trout in there though.

This spring it was all about the north lake, I caught a lot of nice bass there as well as some gills and crappie. Perhaps I'll have to try the south lake. I tried to get there one time by crossing the dam and going up that road, but there was little access and it dead ended. Do you just keep going around the other side?

Yes, you just follow the road on around.
Bank fishing, boat, or float tube?
There is some bank access just off of the road. Beyond the end of the road (where the road turns away) is private land and no bank access.
A float tube can be launched along most of the road area.
There is also a boat ramp not far south of the island area.

Cool, thanks for the info! I guess I just never went far enough before. I fish a float tube, so I've kind of avoided Twin since things warmed up and the ski boat hatch got thick. Maybe I'll try to make it up there this fall, but with school and work it doesn't look so good. Thanks again though, I will for sure have to check it out next spring. It looks like there are some nice areas of trees there, just right for spring bass.
