I will definitely be there. Although its my older daughter's birthday, I always fish on 9/11 since I think its good luck.
AAAAHHH ........ you got the timing right on this baby. The fishing should be good and the weather too. I like fishing from early Sept thru mid-Oct. for pre spawn lakers and have done the best at this time of year. The fish have always seemed to be aggressive at this time. However, people who fish the Gorge say the fish get finicky at the same time of year out there. Anyway, it will be fun. I'll be bringing some hot homemade bread and fresh raspberry jam for breakfast. The berry crop has been a good one. Goose jerky and deer salami for snacks later in the day.

I think I am busy that weekend but if not I will come up.

I'm interested. I'll know more as it gets closer. I'll see if I can get IFG to make it repeat.

I'll be there if i can get back on my old shift by then

Hey Scott, last year the wind came up about the time we were planning to get all the boats together, so we headed back to the marina. We ended up pulling the boats into the open docks and getting out and standing around, sharing snacks and BSing for a while before heading back out. This date is earlier than last year but what do you think, can we get permission to use the dock area for our little get together, as long as no one is using the area?

Curt, you can plan on me and my son to be there. Maybe plus one.

September 11th??? Now that's "da bomb" man.

My new boat hasn't seen Bear Lake yet. Maybe I'll make that the first.

Plan to be there boat or no boat.

I curious to see that new boat Ralph, are you going to make us wait until next month to see it? You could add it to the photo gallery boat section:
http://www.bigfishtackle.com/photos/showgallery.php/cat/520
or just a PM would be fine. What kind did you buy?

There will still be quite a few boats in the water on Sept 11, but I think there will be enough slips open to tie up. Or we could easily tie up to the end of the docks since there are cleats there too and use the docks as a platform for lunch. There shouldn't be any problem as long as we're not taking someone's slip and they need to use it.

Great, we were there less than an hour last year, so I'm sure we won't be in anyones way. It sure made it a lot easier than how we have done it in the past.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.

[#800000]Damnit Curt – our biggest Skeet shoot of the year is always scheduled on the weekend after Labor Day weekend. So I’ll be in Salt Lake City on the 10th – 12th. Which means I can’t possibly make it – AGAIN. And that means that none of my goose/duck smoked sausage and salami will be there either. Damnit Curt! [crazy][/#800000]

I had a a lot of fun when I fished up there a couple years ago. I've got a trip planned for Lake Powell that week or else I'd be there for sure. Not for the fishing but for the food [Wink].

There are two styles of fishing, trolling and jigging. Depending on what you want to do, will dictate what gear you bring.
Jigging: I usually use 1/2 to 3/4 oz 4 to 5 inch salt and pepper colored tube jigs, tip your jig with cisco, carp or chub meat.
Trolling: If you have a down rigger, pull a rainbow, brown or perch lure about 10' off the bottom.

Most of the guys arrive around first light, we launch and head to the Rock Pile, fish until 11 or 12 noon, then get together for lunch. Last year the wind came up and we all headed to the docks at the State Parks marina and had lunch there, so we will do that again this year. After we eat, we usually go back to fishing but that is about it, except for the sharing of your fishing story for the day, with everyone on the site. Usually someone goes around and gets everyone together when we are planning on having lunch, so make sure, if this is your first year, that someone knows who you are so we can let you know when it is time to eat. If you have BFT stickers or a flag on your boat that would help.
Looking forward to meeting any now folks that will be there this year.

[#000000]Kent PM'd me and was worried someone wouldn't realize that the thumbnail (that's a little picture) in this post was a link to a video. Anyone who didn't figure that one out, PM Kent. He'll have a remedial hyperlink class for all of you that are "internet challenged".[/#000000]
[#804000]Looks fun ......... I should have enough stuff kicking around in my burbot boxes to get started...........and I have a BFT sticker on my boat windshield.......Do you load up the tube jigs with any stink-um?[/#804000]
[#804000]Good video RDRRMBE.[/#804000]

If the catching is good you don't need to add scent but when it is slow, anything that can help you catch a fish is work a shot, within limits[Wink]. Did I meet you at the Burbot Bash?
