Went up to Steck on Wednesday night and came back Thursday afternoon. Someone previously posted it was low, and I believed them, but crap... it was low. We fished the downriver side of the railroad tracks, 1st pole in the water about 1am, fish on about 15 minutes after. The wind was blowing estimated 10-15 mph constantly with some nice knock your chair over with a boulder/tackle box in it gusts and sideways rain. Even with the rain it was a complete dust bowl down there [:/] After the first fish, it slowed way down and we ended up with 5 total, a few missed bites, and 2 that got away. Not bad considering the fairly drastic climate change and water level . The pics are from a cell phone, so they're probably small, but if you look close, one is of the Steck Park boat launch looking absolutely useless [unimpressed]
On a plus side, the cats were all around the same size, about 3-4 pounds. We were using herring, dough balls, and stink bait. They only took to the stink bait.
On a random side note, anybody know of a decent spot to find flatheads in Brownlee? F&G guy said there are some sunken railroad ties around the sand dune rec area that should hold a few, but the other places he mentioned I had no clue as to where he was talking about.
