Has anyone happened upon any walleye this summer from Utah Lake? It seemed like after the spawn the fishing was done. Why can't you catch them consistently year round or at least during the summer/fall months? They have to eat like any other fish! If you have been catching them what are you using? I'm sure it'd be the same stuff they always catch them on. I feel like I have paid my dues this year and haven't caught one, and believe me I tried. One night in June while jigging with a 3" white grub I had a ravenous fish practically jump out of the water after the lure as I pulled it out of the water, my guess would be it was a walleye. Anyways i'm just curious to see what people's experience has been these last few months.

its been a long long time, but the best day I ever had for walleye was July 5th one year. we caught nine that day trolling around bird island it was 105 degrees and flat lake not sure what they were doing out there. About 15 boats that day, I remember picking up floating lures all morning too, they would snag the rock on the bottom break off then float up. never been able to reproduce that day since

Walleye are tough in UL in summer... They are there and they do eat but ya have to find em. As Tube Dude always says "Cant catch em where they aint." Walleye are more spread out in the summer months and much harder to find active fish. UL is a big shallow lake a lot of water to cover. They will turn on a bit as the water cools in september/october. During the fall a piece of white bass or even a whole small white bass might catch you a fish. The North dike of Provo Boat harbour out on the west end is a good place to try. There are walleye caught but again to quote Tube Dude "More walleye are caught by accident when fishing for somthing else than by guys looking for walleye". There are a few walleye experts here that might help you a bit. I manage a few by accident fish but I am not an expert at walleye on UL.. Usually if you find a few small white bass there is a walleye around waiting for the dinner bell.

cast along the bull rushes and cat tails with twister tails. look to the south of the provo inlet. they hang all summer along there.
