Beautiful weekend at Deadwood Reservoir. Road getting in from the Banks-Lowman road direction was much better than anticipated - only an hour and 10 minutes on the dirt and gravel. Fishing was super. Fly fishing off pontoons at the north end produced at least 20 fish up to the boat in about 7 hours of fishing between Friday and Saturday morning (all but one released in feisty condition). Probably twice that many additional hits/hookups that self released before getting them in (barbless hooks). Fishing buddy did about the same. GBHWB in olive or black size 8-10, Sheep Creek Specials, and Carey's specials all produced on intermediate or Type II sinking lines. Nice active rainbows 12-18 inches and cutthroats at 14-16 inches. Weather was perfect. Couldn't ask for a better still water flyfishing trip.

Great report and good to hear about that road. I haven't been up there since I drove a 79 Scout with bad shocks on that road and I swore I would never do it again. I should go back up there with a metal detector and see if I can find some of my old dental fillings.

Welcome to BFT. Sounds like the kind of fishing I like to do.
