I noticed that the steelhead counts coming through Lower Granite have surpassed last years numbers at the same time by around 4000 fish (clipped counts). Anyone hearing projections on the steelhead fishing for next spring?

Why wait till next spring, fish them now while they are still fresh and aggressive! The fishing is very good in the lower Snake and Clearwater (C&R). Keep season starts Sep 1 on the Snake and Oct 15 on the Clearwater. Once you catch chromers, you will know what I mean...

ive been fishing for them already and i havnt tied into one yet but i have seen a few landed hear and there the lower clear water is so big it is hard to target where the fish are going to be.

When we night-fished the Clearwater last year in our boat, we were surprised at how many people were fishing the banks at the confluence. Some were on the north side, and others were fishing the levees on the south side. I was told they hold their own when compared to the success of the trollers. I think they were using the Brad's lighted lures like all the boats, but I'm not sure. Keep the reports coming; I am bound and determined to get a fish at the confluence. Mike

Most of the folks who fish down there at the confluence from the banks are bobber/jig fishing with lighted bobbers; with the occasional plunker thrown into the mix. Not too much plug fishing going on from the bank down there in the pond, though I have seen it occasionally. There's not enough current for side planing, either.
