[cool][#0000ff] I hate weather forecasters. TubeBabe and I made a last minute check of the weather last night and it looked like a nice day on Starvation. Yeah, right.

[#0000ff]Had a nice sunrise as we pulled into the Indian Bay camping area, looking for a good spot to launch our tubes. Full of promise. Lies...all lies. Found a good launch spot but had to use our electric motors to power against the increasing breeze out of the west. Made it across a small bay to the lee side and got into some decent perch right away. Looking good. Also exercised a few smallmouth...from about 8" to 17"...with a few footlongs and a fourteen incher in between. Fun fun.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The pesky breeze laid down...briefly...so I boogied out to the island to check it for toothy critters. Got a couple more small smallies and a few swing and misses. Then the breeze started coming up again so I moved back closer to the launch site...just in case. Good move. Just after losing a sizeable walleye from the deeper channel, Mama Nature took a deep breath and WHOOSH. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I cranked my electric motor up high and boogied for the beach. TubeBabe did the same, but she was upwind and it was much easier for her to surf back in. As we both reached the launch site from opposite directions the breeze dropped just a bit. We wondered if we might get back out. WHOOSH again. Nope. We took down our tubes and packed the car. And the lake laid down again. But not for long. The whitecaps started marching in our direction again. And the big black clouds that had been building started flashing and grumbling at us. Mama Nature was in fine form.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Although we were fishing a new spot for us, and only had a brief time on the water, we both caught some porky perch and a few feisty smallies. Wish I had netted the big wallie I lost at the last spot I fished. Hope it will be there waiting the next time...with lots of bigger friends.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I hate it when I have to drive 5 hours for only a couple of hours fishing. It just ain't right. Life's not fair.[/#0000ff]
