Phillip and I got out this morning pretty early to look for crappie. We found some under docks. We landed 18 total for the morning with 10 being qualified to go to the freezer. Most every one was keeper size, but not 11" long. We caught them on BG slab slayers in the ghastly minnow and outlaw special colors fished on 1/32 oz jigs. Around an 8 to 10 count mostly today.

We each caught a small bluecat and I had another bluecat break my line. Trying a new knot that was imperfect. Then later on the morning, I had a bass about 3 pounds get around something under a dock and break my jig off. 5 seconds after he broke the line, he broke the surface of the water and spit the slab slayer back at me. Nice bass.

Then we tried jig spoons for a while and caught mostly bluegills. One small spotted bass too. When the fun seekers came out in force, then we eased back to the ramp. The Tyner lane shuttle carried 10 of those crappie home. Have to give some away tomorrow to a widow who lost her only son a few months ago.

Today was the first time to crappie fish for me since the first day of August and it did feel good to be back in action. Hopefully, more days to follow. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
