We put in at CFP this morning about 6:30 and made a run to flat/dropoff area that was holding fish yesterday. Fish still there and plenty of bait, but we just couldn't get one to bite. Tried a couple more main channel spots and marked fish everywhere but no luck catching. May be due to front starting to move through. emoScratch We tried dropshots, spoons, spinnerbaits on the flat, and got nothing.

Moved again further up river and found a lot of fish holding on a main channel hump. Started with vertical jigging silver hopkins and finally got bit. We hooked up a couple decent LM, several yellows, some drum, nice blue cat, and would you believe it 4 crappie on 3/4 oz jigging spoon in 30+ feet of water, couple of them were around 13".

Storm was building downriver, and we heard some thunder and lightning so had to cut trip short. Ran us off about 9:30 or so. As usual had a good time fishing with Pete. He knows the river very well and is a good fishing companion. Too bad we had to quit as there were a lot of fish working that area. Will spend the rest of the day running fan trying to dry out the boat for tomorrow. Hope to do better next time.

Regards, Labman
