Me and my dad headed up there yesterday. The river was higher than what we thought, we started with hopper patterns, no luck. I was fishing one eddy and just drifting the hopper down. I then switched to a bead headed prince and drifted it down on about the third drift caught a nice 8 inch wild rainbow, Some of the best colors i've seen on a bow and fought like a fish double its size. All in all it was pretty great day for only catching one fish.

At least on the eastern side of the state I don't believe there is going to be a big hopper "hatch" this year.

I have kicked some grass banks in the last year and all the grasshoppers I have seen are undersized for this time of year.

Usually they are full grown by this time of year. Everyone is saying things are way behind this year, but it won't be long before there are freezing temps. I just don't think it will be a normal year around here.

driving down into the canyon we saw hoppers galore the windows were done and atleast six or seven hopped into the car. but down closer to the river i didn't see any even when whacking through the bushes. Your right there weren't any large ones, most of them were about the size i see around my house.
