This one is not adjusted right. I loaned it to my friend. On my son's tube it is level. Ron

I forgot to add. If I were going to make this one again I would change one thing. On the upright piece that the 45 degree elbow sits on. I would make that a plastic union. That way I could change the direction of the poles.
The way it is now works fine but the unions would make it a little more adjustable. Ron

With all the sophistication on your ship (no longer a tube or boat) you don't have a laptop on board?

[cool][#0000ff]No laptop, no cell phone...no distractions. I take my fishin' serious. I usually have a walkie talkie if I am fishing with someone else...just to trade info back and forth. But when I fish with TubeBabe she usually turns me off anyway...so, no distractions.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I can't believe all the fellow tubers and tooners I fish with who HAVE to have their cell phones with them on the water. Besides inviting disaster if they lose it over the side it seems like they always feel compelled to take a call...even if they are getting a bite or fighting a fish. Seen a lot of good fish (and cell phones) lost because of "cell slavery".[/#0000ff]

That would be me on the cell phone, but I got one of the best jobs of my life from having it with me and landed a outstanding Bluegill to boot.
Second time I had it with me was because out on the water was the only place I got reception. That call was telling me my mother passed away in her sleep......Yup, I have mine with me 24/7.
There are plenty of fish out there[Wink]

[cool][#0000ff]No quarrel with anybody who NEEDS a cell phone to maintain contact...for responsibilities or important communications. Just my personal preference not to take one with me. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Heck, nobody ever calls me anyway. I get so lonely.[/#0000ff]

This is my wifes FC4. Looking at the rod holder I am going to add two more bottom pieces for stability. I have it hooked to the rings with quick clips.

I can see your point about no cell phone, TD, and nothing wrong with that. Especially if you are in high density boat areas fishing with several friends. To quote Yogi Berra more or less: "Nobody goes there anymore, since its gotten too crowded"

But, I ALWAYS carry a cell phone which is especially important if you fish alone. I NEVER answer a cell phone while fishing and it is set on vibrate or off so it won't RING and destroy the whole atmosphere. It is attached with a quick release neck strap and goes in my upper left pocket, opposite the small can of bear spray in my right pocket. I would have to be dumped in over my head to get these wet, and the cell has a removable chip which can be switched to a dry sealed backup phone if I can find it after an unlikely dump. It is programed with local warden and rescue numbers. I use it only when I need to make a call, NEVER to receive. It has been used to call in emergencies for others in trouble (overturned power boat), to report poaching , illegal activity (dumping, buzzing jetskis) and settle disputes with landowners pointing a shotgun at me who think they own the river, because they don't know the law-(here you go sir, talk to the sheriff on my phone). That doesn't even count the situation should I be stranded or get in trouble at my advanced age. Anyway, that's the way I see it, to each his own.

I hear ya. My cellphone is my secret weapon (using a bluetooth headset, of course). I couldn't tell you how many times my wife has called and I was like "...yeah I know, so- UMMMPHH!!! Hold on, I got one!".

Big difference in NOT carrying one and just not answering or muting.
Even if I am with allot of friends, I still have mine with me in a waterproof pouch. Not me I am worried about.

FWIW, I do check incoming calls when I take a lunch or bathroom break off the water. High priority, return calls are made discretely off water and ALWAYS out of earshot of other humans. Phone ringers and voices can be quite annoying when they carry for thousands of yards over water. JMHO

Absolutely...that is why my ring is "Thunderstruck by AC/DC" or "Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson" [Wink]

I don't think I have ever heard anyones phone on the lakes...come to think of it, on the rivers either....but I am never that close to anyone else.
