Smiley and I went to Lincoln beach this A.M. Launched at 0630 to very calm 67 degree water. No wind at all, not even a breeze. launched from the boat ramp to fish our way out of the harbor. I was dragging chub meat on the ultra lite and tossing Roadrunners on the other rod. Fish were rising all over the place. Tayler was in a hurry to get out to the kittes. so he left me there. Just about of the channel when the ultra lite started to dance. White bass ate the chub tail with a vengeance . Yea no skunk today. Turned south toward the reeds to catch up with Tayler. We were in 7 feet of water when Smiley hooked up with a 12 in white bass. Love watching him catch fish. That was it for a long 3 hours. Kicked back to the North side of the boat harbor and hooked a BIG catfish in 4 feet of water, on one of TubeDudes floating pale perch jiggs. I got real excited when he surfaced the first time. Got him to the tube and was so excited, I forgot I had a net. Almost had my hand on him when the line broke just above the jig. What an idiot I am. The biggest fish of my year and I pull a bonehead move like that. Duh! Man was I disgusted with my self. Fished on for an hour or so and hooked my last fish of the day on a Rapalla( forgive me Joni?) all in all it was a good day. No power squadron, beautiful day.
Stay safe and pass it on.
