Due to a busy summer and my wife starting a new job I have not had my boat out at all this year. I want to get it out this weekend and take the wife and daughter fishing on Monday. Trying to decide where to go that is fairly close to the Valley. How has Jordanelle and Rockport been for trout fishing? Any other spots I should consider?

I've not been out for a couple weeks, but the last place i hit was Jordanelle. Nothing was very active, by any means. We managed a couple small chubs into the boat drift fishin then the weather had us B-lining for the ramp. This was a bout a week and a half ago or so when that hurricane came through Utah. Ha.

A couple days before that we hit Rockport twice in the same week and did pretty well as long as we had a breeze and a bit of chop on the lake. Lots of fun. The fish weren't gigantic, but they hit like a ton of bricks and fought really, really well. Those little bows have a lot of spunk. The water level had dropped about 15 - 20 feet from it's peak, but there were fish to be had from clear up in the south end shallows all the way back to the damn.

Good luck man. I hope you do well. I may try to get some fishing done in central Utah this wknd between times of trying to fill my doe tag. The tag is for the sevier river bottoms, and i'm considering floating the river with a pole AND a rifle. [Wink]
