I have been fishing in the creek behind my house multiple times but only once have i ever caught a fish. I have used worms, spinner baits, curly tailed grubs, crank baits and none of them seem to work. Also there is and abundance of weeds growing up and down the river so i can only cast my lures into a small sliver of the river. I know for sure there are fish in there, they just don't seem interested in what i cast out.

try sweet corn (like in the can) or wonder bread

When I was a kid, we had a small farm pond that had fish who wouldnt cooperate,
So, What I did in that situation is look around the area where you are fishing, find what ever bugs are hopping around and turn over a log or rock or two to find what ever may be crawling around there.
Those will be what will attract your fish best. "match the hatch or use the hatch when ever lawfull"
especialy black crickets if that is lurking about, put them under a bobber or bubble.
if your a brave sole, wasps and hornets work well too, the fish will come right up to the top of the water to hit those bugs so you dont realy need a sinker if your fishing shallow water. Grass hoppers work like crazy now as well.
