You heard me right...well almost. After five to six hours of fishing we ended up landing one white bass, and two missed carp, so the last two don't even count[frown] Although I had thrown my worm out on my second pole permit and inched my way down the bank. A few minutes later I saw that my line was tight and moving so I set the hook and started reeling. I soon realized the dang thing had wrapped himself around a rope that was tied to a large pipe (on the west side of west mountain at one of the little pump cut outs). So I ventured out on the pipe on my belly with my knife in my mouth ready to cut the rope (I wanted to reel that fish in!). Well when I got there the carp threw the hook and I was left with an empty line a a challenge of going in reverse on that pipe. Long story short I made it off the pipe dry and fishless.
Anyways we started the morning on the north side of Lincoln Beach with the calmest water I've ever seen for Utah Lake[:p] with lots of little bait fish skimming the surface. It seemed it was going to be prime conditions for lots of fish catching. Wrong! First cast my buddy had a hard hit and the fish went running, but he had his drag way too loose and ended up loosing the fish after it tangled my line first of course. We made our way towards the warms springs and back without any bites. We then drove around west mountain hitting the different little pump cut outs. Again no fish. So we went to the Spanish Fork River outlet and got one white bass there off a worm. I couldn't believe our luck. UL produces all the time. I think this recent cold front hampered the fishing. I'm sure there will be people puffing up their chest from their trip from out there, but I'm willing to bet most people's experience would be similar. I'm curious to see if maybe a different area of the lake did produce. And for the record we tried everything (bait wise) that we had in our arsenal. Even the stuff you don't ever use. Nothing. What a disappointing trip! Not even the cats came out to play.
