[cool]...yes, I am a very lucky guy that was able to go fish the Good News river again...and what a trip!! Anyone interested in flyfishing for Silvers....I would dare say this is one of the best rivers in the world to fish for silvers![Wink]....Just to give you an idea of the trip....average fish weighed 14lbs (quite large for silvers) AND at least half of our fish each day were landed on a popper...on top!!!! Each day we would catch at least 40+ fish..a variety of salmon (pinks, chum, silvers, kings, sockeye) and then our AVERAGE dolly varden was 22 inches. I caught two around 26 inches...amazing fish that never stop fighting. I will post a few pics once I find my cable. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll give you more details on who to contact up there to rent gear and which company we used to fly us in from Dillingham. Entire trip was just over $2500 -includes everything (all flights/food/gear rentals)-well worth saving $ and going at least once!

Sounds like a great trip! I've fished the Alagnik and Nunvianuk rivers, and rivers on Kodiak, but haven't made the Goodnews. Sounds like I need to put in on my wish list. I am guessing you must have been there in early-mid August to get into all of the species listed. Any monster rainbows? In spite of their smaller size, I think pinks are hoot to catch on a 5 weight. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

We actually went in Aug 18th and came out on the 25th...most runs were late and then 10 days before we went in a small hurricane dumped 10-15"es of rain. Well, the storm pushed the silvers clear up so we were catching brite fish that still had the sea lice from day one! The kings were totally spent/falling apart but we did catch 1-2 day. One guy that was with us has been fishing Alaska for 20+ yrs (2-3 times/yr) and he said that was the best trip he's had. We were lucky..we got 3 days of sun. Most yrs your looking at rain 6/7 days-but still worth it.

Good to hear you guys had such a good trip, I have been wondering how it went. Maybe some day I can get up there and try it out myself.
