October is a great time to fish Utah. The fishing should be great about anywhere you go. It just depends on what you want to catch, and what part of the state you want to visit. Southern Utah i would suggest Lake Powell, you will catch a variety of warmwater species there. Northern to Central Utah, i would suggest Flaming Gorge, Strawberry, Starvation, Fish Lake.

From [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=270939#270939"]your last post[/url], four years ago, I see you ask the same question then. Did you make it up here to Utah at that time? If you did, you know your way around, did you catch any tiger trout at that time? Is that what you are interested in catching this time or do you want to target a different fish? The guys are right, Oct is a great time to fish here in utah[

Well if I were coming to Utah to fish, I would start with the Huntington Reservoir area. If you made it there last time you came to Utah, then you should be familiar with a few of the lakes. Go and buy a couple of topo maps of the area and go visit all the lakes you can. They have made some huge improvements to the Sky Line Drive that connects many of the lakes there, and there are some good hike in lakes as well.
Also make sure and stop over to Scofield Res. There is a road that connects Fairview Canyon and the Scofield area. The stream below the dam is pretty good there too.
Good luck!!

Yes it is almost the same post as 4 years ago, unfortunitaly we dont get to Utah very often so I have to ask for help so I dont waste time. We had a great time 4 years ago, we went in the beginning of July. This time mid Oct. Yes we did see some tiger trout but didnt catch any. Any type of fish would be good, bass, catfish, wallye, trout. We fished Boulder mountain area, and Mammoth Lake area. We had a fantastic time,I love Utah and the people there are fantastic too. Unfortunitaly I cant move out of Calif. too many family there. Calif. SUCKS dont ever make a mistake and move there! Thanks for the help.

If your plan is to stay in Southern Utah and you don't mind fishing for Bass, then Sand Hallow or Quail Creek are where you want to fish, they are close to St George. If you plan on going a little farther North, like Cedar city and you want to fish for trout, there is a road East of the town that goes up into the mountains with plenty of places to camp and fish.
I visit Calif every year, my Dad and sisters live there, so I know what you mean, I never want to live there[unimpressed][unimpressed].
So 4 years ago you said your son was 14, I guess he is 18 now? He should be all grown up by now, at least that is what mine thought, when he was that age[
]. If you know a closer location where you plan on camping, let us know and we can give you some better idea of where to fish. Good luck on your trip and let us know how you do.

Sand Hallow and the mountains east of Cedar City sound good. What is the name of the road east of Cedar City?We both prefer the mountains. My son is now 19 and we try to go fishing, hikeing, and hunting whenever we can together. Yes he thinks he is ''grown up'' but he knows his Dad knows more than he does. We always have a great time together! I pray that it always stays that way. Thank you for all your help.[fishin]

It is highway 14 that runs East of Cedar city and the larger lakes in that area are Navajo and Panguitch. There are many smaller lakes and streams like Duck creek, Aspen Mirror, McDonald and Le Vanger lakes. There are many more but that should give you a place to start. You could also go west of Cedar city and try New Castle Res for Wipers and Smallmouth. Good luck.

Wiperhunter2 has given you some really good advise. It is pretty much what I would have suggested.
Bring plenty of warm, it will cool off fast up there. If you find it is to cold in the mountains, then get down to Quail or Sand Hollow and it will be warmer.
When at Quail I prefer to camp at the Red Cliffs campground instead of the lake. It is more protected if there is wind, but you will have to get in the car and drive a couple of miles to fish.
