Decided to hit Cache Junction - since I couldn't launch last week, and I'd heard it's open now. Was pretty windy as I got prepped to launch about 3pm. Wind was whipping pretty good - quite a bit of chop. Blowing hard enough it went against the usual direction of current. Decided to head to the road-bridge, and found some handy wires to latch onto. Pitched jigs behind the bridge posts. Spotted up fish oh the finder, but no takes.
Released, and floated south. Found some structure along the shore, and tried pitching into some cars. Didn't find any curious bass or crappie. Went on to the train bridge. Figured I'd round the bend enough to get out of the waves and wind. Anchored up and pitched jigs and worms, and started to get some taps. Worked the timing, and tug a tug - fish on. Started into some channel cats, pretty small ones. Several dinks came to say hi, and a few cutters stayed around.
They kept biting, I kept baiting, then all the worms were gone. Tried some gulps, but no more action. Suspended fish kept passing on the finder, but my white jig under bobber didn't do any dancing.
Light was fading - so I worked my way back. The wind had died down, so I didn't have to fight the chop. Dragged a wallybob, and a spinner just so I could zig-zag my way to the launch.
Nothing spectacular, but a bit of fillet practice, and a chance to explore more of the area. I didn't go very far, with all the wind to fight back against. So next time . . .
