I took my son & son-in-law to Scofield today. We launch a little after 6:30 a.m. and trolled until 10:30. It was an extremely cold morning at Scofield & didn't seem to warm up any - the 20 mph wind did not help either. We ended up catching 14 cutts & rainbows, everyone of them outside of the slot limit. The biggest fish had to go all of 10-inches, the average 6 to 7 inches. All of the fish looked liked snakes - long & skinny. We trolled various lures, RMT squids & rapalas. Never really did figure out what they wanted.
Kind of a disappointing morning. We fished last fall and caught over 80 fish one day, most of them were small 12-14 inches. I thought all of those fish would be in the 16 - 18-inch range this year. They have all disappeared? Scofield used to be such a good fishery - can the chubs be having this much of a impact?
No need to go back to Scofield for a few years - my 2 cents.
