Went out to Utah lake early this morning. Hit the water before sun rise and fishing the Provo inlet. There were already tons of people fishing when I got there around 6. I waded out into the river and threw some smaller grubs at the white bass that seemed to be boiling all around me. They were every where! Landed a handful of them but they just didn't want to hit the plastics or spinners this morning....It really seemed that the temp has dropped and has affected the white bass. Not many people were catching them, which was very different from the past two weeks.
I decided I wasn't going to waste a good morning to fish and to go target some cats. I threw my line right up against the reedline in an inside corner where I thought they might be hanging out. I let it sit for about 15 minutes, then my line went tight so I set the hook. It was a good sized channel and put up a great fight. Second cast was right in the same area. Let it sit for bit again and wham, took the line out of my spool. The second was significantly bigger and put up a better fight. The head looked almost as big as mine.
Pretty fun and the fun ended there. I couldn't get another bit the next hour or two and so I left.
Couple eyes taken out this morning. Shawn's buddy Ivan caught a good sized male this morning as I was coming out of the water. Another guy caught a nice female right on the launch ramp. Some ol' timer was telling me that the guy was reeling in a white bass when the Walleye came up right on the boat launch ramp and took the white bass. Hopefully signs of good things to come!
