Spent the day fishing for largemouth bass with my good buddy Neal on a carry in access lake. We caught some nice bass today. Even better, we landed a couple bonus fish as well. It made draggin the canoe and gear up and down the steep bank worth it.

I had a great time on the water today with Neal. We caught a lot of species of fish, and even though none of them were lake monsters it still felt good to bend a rod during the holiday weekend. Happy multi-species Monday, Happy Labor Day and god-speed to the salmon making their way to the tributaries to spawn.

Nice trip. I'd spend the holiday like that. =)

It was a great day on the water no doubt. Little sore after loading and unloading the canoe as well as caring it in and portaging it. My legs were on fire the next day.

field and stream magazine had an article about saving weight for an anchor.they used a basketball hoopnet, and filled it with rocks when they got to the spot.just a way to eliminate a coule pounds.

Actually not a bad idea. My anchors are very light though. Maybe 5#'s at most. They are more like gappeling hooks then traditional anchors... So it doesn't add too much weight overall
