Took my BBBSU little brother, his sister & buddy to UL yesterday & about struck out. We hit almost every one of my favorite spots from the Saratoga Springs marina to the knolls & all we found was a few whities. Anybody know where the kitties went?

They just have their face in the mud because of this cool front. Don't worry, when they pull their heads out it will have the feed bag on it because they know fall is coming. Try again next week.

Looks like a lot of the action is around the Provo boat harbor. Other posts are showing cats, whities, and walleye. If you saw my post you'd be in good company because we got skunked too out by lincoln beach.

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry you had a bustout trip Tom. But "favorite spots" mean nothing this time of year. Most honey holes are based upon fishing them at prime times when the fish are there and active. Right now the water levels are down and the weather has been up and down too. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Plenty of kitties. Been slaying them all year. The key is to first find them and then find how they are feeding. You can't ketch 'em where they ain't. If you were fishing the reeds or other shallow spots they were probably too shallow. The fish will move back into warm shallow water on warm windless afternoons, but otherwise they will be out in deeper water...usually where you might not expect them to be. And they are more scattered so you sometimes have to cover a lot of water to find them.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I almost never go fishing for cats within a couple of days of a front passing. The fish just shut down until the water calms down and clears up a bit. And this time of year a front generally cools the lake a few degrees. Kitties like warming water...not cooling water.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Glad you at least found some whities. Sure saves some trips with the kids when the whities come out to play.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Actually, during periods of calm over the next couple of months there will be some great fishing for cats. And some of the biggest fish of the year will be caught. You just gotta time it right and find where the fish are hanging out. That is tough if you don't fish it regularly. Hitting it only once or twice a year is playing Russian roulette.[/#0000ff]
