4-6 September 2010 - Lake Guntersville - First I hope all enjoyed their Labor Day Weekend...mine was full with four trips. Here is a rundown, Saturday I picked Peter up (in town from Ireland) and we put in on the lower end of the lake. We started out on the outside edges of the grass on secondary creek channels with Buzz Baits and Frogs. As the day went on we moved out to the ledges which turned out to be our best action using T-rigged worms and Jigs. We finished the afternoon up with a little swim bait action on secondary points with scattered grass. After taking Peter back to Huntsville, I met up with Harold and his better half from East TN, (repeat customer) at Goose Pond. We stayed on the main channel grass all evening and found fish in the scattered grass in 3-7 FOW, using Buzz Baits and Frogs. We found a couple of schools that would come up for 15-20 minutes and than take a break for 30 or so minutes and repeat. Sunday afternoon, I was joined by fellow guide and friend John to take a group of college buddies out for a little late afternoon action on the lower end of the lake. We found several fish in Browns Creek fishing 1-4 foot of water along the bank grass. Again, the action mainly on frogs and big worms worked in the outer edges. Monday morning, I met up with Jaryn (who's better half arranged this trip as a birthday gift at the last minute Sunday evening) We put in at Goose Pond and fished from Jones Creek to Mink Creek paying special attention to little pockets with scattered grass along the heavier mats. Jaryn was supprised when we came across a really nice fish that just could not get his targeting down...the fish (in the 5-6 pound class) would come completely out of the water about a foot away each time and smash his frog by landing on it sideways...as if it was protecting fry. To sum it all up, we enjoyed lower air temps which started each day in the low 50's....Surface water temps would start out around 79 and climb to 84 each day...the best action came from Scattered grass along the main channel and the midday belonged to deeper ledges working 10" worms on a T-rig. A white frog or buzz bait produced our best fish each trip followed by a 5.5 swim bait worked slowly through the scattered grass in 3-7 FOW. As we move into September the action is only going to get better, fish are/will be moving into the creeks and putting on the winter feed bags...."Let's go fish'in" <br /><br />
