Does anyone have any suggestions for a good ice fishing flasher or fish finder? I've heard a lot about Vexilar and Showdown, but could use some help.[

[cool][#0000ff]I do a lot of ice fishing and have either used or observed just about every kind of sonar you can imagine.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Most sonars will "work" for ice fishing. But the ones that are especially designed for it will show you more of the "real time" details you need. Guys who use Vexilars and Marcums almost always outfish someone with a "regular" sonar. And, in the past few years other ice sonars have come on the market.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I bought one of the early model Showdowns. Loved the concept...and the price, compared to the high priced stuff. But I took it back after 3 trips out. It just did not do the job...especially in very cold weather when everything slowed way down...and you could not see fish signals...much less your jigs.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have heard that Showdown has made some upgrades and the current models are supposedly fantastic. I plan to buy another one this year because I do like the way they read. I get a headache from watching the colored flashers.[/#0000ff]
