Anybody know where I can buy one of those long shad dip nets locally? I checked out bass pro but they dont seem to carry them. Something like these http://www.americanrodcompany.com/compon.../Itemid,1/ I have a cast net but I have a hard time casting it from my pontoon.

I figured I would ask and wait a couple days rather than order online. Thanks for the help guys.

BTW, Ive seen some guys get busted for using cast nets which are too large in diameter. The regulations state a cast net must not exceed 4 feet in radius from horn to leadline. http://www.ndow.org/law/regs/fishregs/

Do you use this just like you would a net for landing fish? Wouldn't the shad just swim away as the net hits the water? I would like to see a video of this thing in action. I think the 20-30 dollar toss shad nets would work better and cost a tenth of the price....

you know what might work?... its a long shot; but it might be the closest thing u can get around here, those pool skimming nets they pretty much look like the dip nets we used in the northwest for smelt. and im sure there is no shortage on those pool skimmers here in las vegas. i dont know just a thought. good luck on your search

Yes you use it just like a net for landing fish. These are common in Southern California. The net is made out of flourocarbon coated mono so the shad dont spook. I guess ill just order online. Ill make sure to make a video once i get one.
