Hey all going camping in the Uintas this coming Sunday for a few days and was looking for some advise. I am guessing I will be going mostly for Trout and Bass up there and was told Salmon eggs and Marshmellows will work best.

We will be staying at the Carter Creek Military Campgrounds which are above the Mirror Lake Highway and just above Lily Lake and Monviso. Has anyone fished either Lily or Monviso? I cant find any real information on them as far as fishing goes so will there be any fishing in them? I wan't to be fishing pretty well the entire time so wanna find the best lake for my time.

I know other times I've been up to Mirror Lake area one lake will be slow while another will by smokin and just gotta keep moving. But I don't know much about Lily Lake or Monviso.

Any advise or suggestions is great thanksSmile

Sorry, that I can't be more helpful. I haven't fished either lake.

I do suggest that you get a really good map and explore it looks like there are a number of other lakes in the area too.

I would also try some of the streams. I have heard that the East Fork of the Bear is good.

I remember that I have gotten Uinta maps and info in the past from Utah DWR on North Temple in SL.

I fished Lily in July. There were lots of fish rising all day but they would not touch any fly that I presented to them. There were lots of dansel flys flying around so I assumed that was what they were eating. Maybe the fall fishing will be better.

Lily lake is not usually extremely productive. Additionally the road to Lily is not good at all, dont know what your driving (you will not see a car at the lake). Ive never fished, nor heard of Monviso. that is the name of a new private community they are building up there. I would say fish Whitney reservoir instead. Has always at least produced something for me

I have fished up there a bunch this summer. Lilly is not the best fishing. However, plenty of lakes up there produce many fish. Try various flies behind a bobber (caddis, royal wolf, prince, steamers). Pass lake has been stocked with a lot of tiger trout lately. They put up a great little fight. Trial, mirror, and butterfly lakes have treated me well there lately. If you plan on using flies, just look for what's flying around if you like dries. Mosquitoes are probably gone by now. If something isn't working, switch it up. They have a short feeding season, they will eventually hit something. Hope that helps.
