I apologize if I messed this up, i'm trying to post a picture of a catfish my little buddy caught @ Steck Park last Friday. If it doesn't show up you'll just have to take my word for it. Big Cat!!

OOPS!! sorry about the file size, wasn't intentional.

I can't see the picture, but others may be able to. Glad you had fun. Keep working on downsizing the file a little so we can all see your pictures. I use Microsoft Paint to save a smaller picture.

Did you put him back for someone else to catch or make a bunch like him?

Nice fish! Flathead?

i have to chime in..is it really your business if he kept the fish or not ? there is a lot of meat there for the taking. soak the filets in milk overnight and the meat is great on those big cats. sorry if i offended. but if i catch one that big 100 % guarantee he will be in my freezer with zero regrets !

That is one heck of a nice catfish. Good work.

to old to keep or taste any good. i let almost all my fish go except for the kokanee out of lucky peak. notthing better then coming back with 6 pounds of salmon. expecially when the fishing is only 30 min from town. those big cats are fun to catch but how would want to eat that much mercury. It makes you smaller down below. anyways i fished the snake the other day caught 14 bass all 12-15" let everyone go.

Welcome to the forum maybe share a kokonee recipe with us

I went to Steck Saturday and heard rumors of a monster caught by a little kid. Same one maybe? I left with a 28 incher and a 23 incher... fishing was kinda slow. Got attacked by killer geese by the campground.
Stopped by Paddock Sunday on my way home and drove to the dam and slaughtered the Crappie.

Like I said in my origional post, it was caught by a friend I work with. No, he did not release it. I think he even ate the eyeballs.

paddock reeeaallly........... how big were the crappie ? any bass ?

nice cat. i didn't have that kind of luck on the snake out of Bruneau last weekend but the weather was tough

At Paddock we caught one little six inch bass. Nobody else was catching any either from what we heard. The crappie were ranging between 10 and 14 inches and some bluegill almost as long and twice as thick. In about an hour and a half 2 of us took home about 70 crappie not counting the ones we threw back. The water is really low so probably cant get a boat in unless you have a small one you carry in. We also caught a couple small bullheads.

Will he say what he caught it on?
Also, I have to agree that a fish that size might not taste good but to a lot of people, food is food. And that fish would be a lot of food. The only reason I was brought to practice catch and release is because my dad couldn't clean a fish worth a damn and he can never find his recipe book. When Grampa comes over, though, we keep as much as is legal in Illinois.

They were catching some pretty big ones Saturday on Mormon Crickets. I caught a decent one on worms with some garlic spray.

He caught it on a stinkin night crawler.
