Moved to Honduras to retire and fish. Seems to be a lot of fishermen in canoes only. Zero on the boats. Solid catches of yellow tail, tuna and snapper. Anyone out there know why there are no sport fishing boats?

Welcome to the site Mykey, I typed in Honduras sport fishing boats in a search engine and came up with only 6 boats in the country, three are sail boats, two were pursuit boats, so it looks like they are few and far between. I can't answer your question as to why they are so few but my guess is that few folks want to travel to Honduras when there are other areas that are closer and most people in the country can't afford them. Just my opinion though.

Appreciate the response. I bought a "lancha" that is 18 feet long. Ordered a fish finder. Picking up a motor at the first of the week. Will post how it goes next week. FYI..... The largest sport fishing tournament for marlin happens once a year just off shore from where I live. The Bay Islands. A record 1268 pound black took the record and 1 million bucks a couple of years ago. FYI..... One of the reasons I am here showed itself yesterday. Bought 4 medium lobster tails for 50 limpera. $2.50 US.....
thanks again, mike

Are you planning on living in Honduras year round? That is an awesome price on lobster tails. By the way, here is a link to our Saltwater fishing boards, including a board for International fishing reports: http://www.bigfishtackle.com/...orum.cgi?category=71

Have owned several beach front properties here for 20 years. Will start building a retirement home on the beach with a dock. Expect to fish everyday if possible. Since I don't eat fish overall most will be released. I should start a fishing resort. Will report the counts as soon as I get out there. Have been dedicated to Mako's on the Pacific for 25 years or so. Hoping they are big here. I have a 100 lb and over limit. It is a fish I love to eat. Here in Honduras they are not eaten. No sharks are eaten.
They are partial to Sierra. A modified Pacific mackerel. It is caught from there canoes which makes sense of it.
