What a fun evening! Went with my little bro to try and find some catfish at a spot we've been wanting to try from shore. Within 3 minutes he catches a big Utah sucker, not a June sucker. We used some cut bait to try and get some cats' attention. Worked great, I caught 5 real nice size channel cats (4-6 lbs) in a couple hours and he got his first channel catfish. Tons of fun and I finally found a good hole to fish from shore. Here's a pic of the sucker fish he caught and a pic of my biggest channel cat for the evening.

Nice fish mate. Were you at a lake or random wilderness pond? I have been looking for a good place for a while. Dont worry I am not asking for your spot, just curious as to what kind of area that is.

Forgot to add to the original post that while I fished only for the cats, surprise surprise, my brother caught: 1 white bass (little one), 1 bluegill (little one), 1 carp (big one), 1 channel catfish (4.5 pounder), 1 sucker fish. 5 species in a couple hours all on a little tiny #8 hook with just barely enough of a piece of night crawler to cover the hook!

Don't worry I'd never tell you my spot! I work hard to try and find these spots and there is usually a couple (or more) of unsuccessful attempts at finding nice fishing holes between the successful spots.

Well by the diversity of his brother's catch he had to b on Utah Lake. Now the question is where? I don't know any better than you. But at least you have a body of water to start with. [angelic]

What are you worried someone is going to steal all your fish from Utah Lake?! Not likely - I think there's a few extra fish in there.
I can understand not wanting crowds at some secluded isolated spot, but I'd think there's enough shore to share.

But I get it - I have a fav spot right by the dam at 2nd dam of Logan river - and if there's someone there already, I'm bummed - usually wait for them to leave, and move in! (duoh! I shouldn't've said that!)

I know - some folks have their honey-holes, and want to "guard" them. I figure - hey - it's public land, and it's not like I can spend 24x7 fishing (ok, so I WISH!)

(I think TD actually has some newer maps with more markups, plus a couple writeups on the new roads accessing the area.)

THANKS FOR THE POST! Appreciate your willingness to share what your willing to share. My intent was not to bash, and hope YOU didn't take it as such. A in cheek never seems to come through typing, no matter how many emoticons you paste in! [blush]

Had wondered about the sucker legality, but didn't say anything. Check the regs if it ain't, better edit it out. I've had to (don't get me started on 'da Bull!)

Didn't mean to bash the "protective" mode, but I prefer to be outgoing, and SHARE information. Probably have folks out there saying "damn - wish he hadn't posted THAT map". But I also post photos of "finished" fish and there's probably Catch-N-Release fanatics goffing at that too.

I personally can see NO reason why a poster can't offer a general suggestion as to where in the STATE OF UTAH they were, even if they don't want to be specific. Idaho has a "guessing game" going - maybe we should start one too. I like to post pictures that show landmarks of where I'm at - so if someone else want to try to find that spot, they have the "clues" they need.

If I find you sitting in my fav.honeyhole - I'll probably offer you a beer, or soda, and hope you don't mind if I cast next to ya. And if you do - I retract the bev. offer!

its funny to me on this board, a guy gives a post which he is genorous to do, then he is questioned about his tactics or he didnt give enough information, or he kept a big fish on and on. you just called him protective and brought up if he broke the law.If you found gold on utah state lands would you give landmarks to give the general public clues, one mans fish is another mans gold.If you see me on your honeyhole,give me distance, and wait your turn , i carry my own cooler and drinks.You apologise in 1 sentence then tell him how you would do it better in the next.I read this board not to get exact info but to know it can be done and if i do my share of work i can do it also.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If the board would prefer me not to post up my catches because I won't reveal where I was, I can understand that and certainly accommodate that. I don't want to stir the pot or cause trouble.

Don't feel obligated to share your spots with anyone and please keep posting. Just because a few others feel otherwise that is their problem and don't let it also become your problem.

I sincerely didn't mean to jump on you. I guess it "sounded" rougher than I meant to type it.

Please post anything (within da guidelines [shocked] ) that you wish, in the manner you wish to share it. I enjoy seeing folks photos, think it enhances the story - brings you to the "action".

Some folks may be too verbose (guilty) and others are quick an terse. 'Sup to you. I'm always glad to know there's fish out there biting.
