Spent three days up at the Carter Creek Campground with the family and friends and got into some fish. We tried Mirror early and was on the water at sunrise exactly, and spent roughly 3 hours there and only caught one little brookie by me.

We used worm and sinker far out, Worm and bobber, flies, powerbait, large hooks small hooks and only managed one dink brook.

We then decided to try pass lake just up the road a mile to see if it was better. It was on FIRE. They were hitting worm and a little powerbait of the bottom hard but the best for me was a black fly of my spinning rod ten feet off shore. Landed fish one after the other. Not tiny dinks either got a 14 inch rainbow and 13 inch Tiger. While not huge for other lakes they were fun for this one.

Later we got the family on the lake and I got 2 big Tigers within ten minutes on the fly. I released nearly all of them and still took home a limit of nice tigers.

So if anyone is going with a family up to the uintas I suggest going up to Pass Lake instead of Mirror if you have a group. Mirror was fine alone and a couple boaters had great time but too slow from shore.

I will post pictures soon. I will show the fly I was using. It was litterally toss out and pull in a fish each time. Very fun and hot for the right stuff.

Now I just gotta get as good with Catfish : )

Glad you and the family finally had a fishing trip work out. Funny how one lake seems you can do no wrong and the next you can do no right. Once on Mirror with my wife for the first hour and a half couldn't buy a bite with anything. Then the last hour and a half couldn't make a cast without catching a fish or missing several bites. Again congrats.
