Well Two Rivers Bass anglers held our end of the year classic on G'ville this past weekend. We had a pretty good couple days, Seemed like the fish are still a little behind from where they usually are this time of year. On Saturday we had a few limits ranging from 10 lbs to 15 lbs. On Sunday it was a little tougher with only 1 limit being brought in. The winning 2 day weights were. 1st Shane/ Rick with 28-2. 2nd Mike/Lisa 22-4. 3rd Jimmy/Kevin 18-6. Big fish was 3-14 and 5-4. Now for the fishing report. Saturday we started in scattered grass throwing "cutthroat rumble jigs" and had two 16 inch keepers by 8 a.m. We decided then to go ahead and move to a grass mat that has been holding some better quality fish. That ended up being a good decision. We didn't catch alot but between 8 and 3 we caught 6 more keepers including two 4 lbers and a total of 15-8 for the 1st day lead. On Sunday we started back on the Grass mat but things were pretty slow. We made the decision to stick with it and try to grind out 5 fish. We had to change our lures a few times and finally found something they would bite. It pays to have a couple Cutthroat grass jigs in the boat!! We finished our limit late around 1:15. Ended with a little over 12 lbs for the day and 28-2 for the weekend and the win. All fish were caught rotating between flippin a beaver and the Cutthroat grass jig in black/blue. On a side note I bought 2 heavy action rods from Damon at Nuclear Rods a few weeks ago for flippin G'ville grass and throwing Rats on the mats. After using them non-stop for 2 days in a row I was more than happy with them. Very light and well balanced. Usually after 1 day of flippin with a 1 1/2 oz weight my arms are done for. I fished 2 days hard and could have fished for many more. Very good rods! Two rivers club is done until March of next year and will be looking for a couple more teams over the winter.
