Didn't quite make it by safe light but enjoyed a little top water action. Popped a Lobina Rio Rico in Aurora Ice Color over a rock point and quickly landed a nice keeper LM. Tons of bait flickering and graphed blooms of bait suspended (15 - 18 ft. in the water column) with some fish underneath but unable to draw a top water strike so tried a LC pointer jerkbait with no results also. Then tried tossing a hornet with fluke trailer but nothing. Noticed bait still on and around rocks but could get no top water blowups so began working the rocks with a Rapala SR02 (3/16) in a bluegill pattern and boated some nice spots. You can toss the Shad Rap up on the rocks and gently walk it all over the mossy rocks and down the ledge with relatively no hangs and it does a nice job of working the fish out of the rocks. Went to the dam and cranked a few rock piles with a LC Flat CB in Aurora Black pattern and had a nice on on for a few seconds but although tons of fish were marking, they just weren't aggressive despite the fact that the current was ripping. Went to the rip rap and found a few more nice Spots with a drop shot and as the fish were suspended I put the bait about 3 feet above the weight. We only got strikes after violently shaking the rod tip on a tight line. Went back down river and checked out some barely exposed rocks and saw an absolute "toad" swimming under a pod of shad. The water was super clear and there was no doubt it was a largemouth. I guarantee it was over 8 lbs. I tried everything I could think of and almost snagged its tail once. I just wanted to see the dang bass up close. It was a monster. We finally pestered the creature enough to send it deeper so we left. Went down river and checked out a few places but only caught dinks. In by 10:30 A.M.
