I need to start out by letting you know this is my first year Fly fishing...AND I AM HOOKED!

I have been reading everywhere that streamer fishing is going to be the ticket in October. I have a few streamers i have picked up but wanted to get some expert advice from all the pro's on this website. I mostly fish the South Fork between twin bridges and Lorenzo and also the North Fork from Rexburg to Island Park.

What are some good colors/streamers to use?

As the water cools on that section I tie alot with white in them- though I tie black and also that brownish green sculpin color. I like a 15 to 20 ft sink tip - maybe 6 ft of 10#. along some of the drift wood piles though it's tough to beat a good spinning rod and a 1/4 oz. jig. A fly is tough to keep in the zone. Last week browns followed the streamer out but when they got out away from the logs that felt unsafe as turned back in. A jig would have stayed right in there longer.

Thanks for the info.

I usually fish a lot with the Kastmasters and have had a lot of luck doing that same thing. I just hate when you get snagged and lose a $4 lure

always had good luck with wooly buggers mariboo leaches and bunny patterns. all in silver brown and black. late in the evening you might give some egg sucking leaches a try in pink black or orange black.
