I didn't get a chance to fish these but I thought that the levels in Alexander, Mackay, and Chesterfield were all better than in years past.

Alexander is completely full.

Mackay is down, but is still better than some June levels that I have seen there. Nice to have some fairly good water years.

Chesterfield is down, but not extreme. Good to see that it hasn't been drawn down that bad. I had heard previously that Pocatello had been negotiating to buy some of the water rights to Chesterfield, so that they could leave a good pool every year. Does anyone know if that actually happened?

I would sure hate to see it ever drained completely again.

Chesterfield from the east side, the ramp looks like it is still in the water, but I am not sure. There was one boat that I saw out -- it was about 16 ft long.

FG isn't that your reel laying by that rock in the last pic[laugh]

Wouldn't that be great to find it! Anyone fishing Chesterfield, keep an eye out for a GOLD Battenkill Large Arbor III reel (made in England) loaded with a tan and brown line.
Was lost early summer inn 12' water straight out from second cutout camp site.

How high was the water when you lost it? Was the res completely full?
[signature]
Yes it was full.

You may have a good chance of finding it. I am guessing that the water level is down at least 8 to10 ft maybe more. So your reel may be in only 2 ft of water or so. Or it maybe a bit deeper considering most sonar is mounted 1 to 2 ft below the surface.
I would bet that it is covered in silt or weeds. You may have to do a barefoot stomp or take your garden rake out for a workout!

I agree with most sonar mounted too deep. Mine is inches in the water...
You are right on the barefooting...could be fun

By cutout do you mean kind of like a bay? If I get some time and get over that way again, I might give it a try looking, but I am not sure where the campsite is.

if i find it is there some kind of reward? [:p]

A metal detector might be your best bet . Curt G

The clearing for campers right after you go over that bridge. In fact we were launching right at the bridge.
Koch, your reward will be in heaven waiting for you[angelic]

I keep thinking metal detector.

It was just down from where you have "is this the campsite"
You can see the vehicles parked there. That's where we camped.
If you follow the line and where it's kinked at, it looks about the area where the reel is.

They certainly look better than the reservoirs in the Preston area. I fished Twin for a little bit today, and the deepest water I could find was only 12 feet. I hit Weston two weeks ago and 10 feet was it there, and it's probably down even more now. I hope we don't have fish kills this winter on those waters [:/]

They are about the two lowest reservoirs around, Glendale is probably next. Foster with its new planter trout is almost full. Go figure! Too bad they already killed the good fishing there in past years.

If I remember correctly they can't fully draw Weston down too far because of the outlet placement. There is always a pool, but survival depends on the winter conditions too.

I think Twin must be that way also, as it is not drained all the way down to fish kill level that I know of. Anyone else know for sure?

I was at Twin Lakes last week but all I could catch was trout. Did you catch other kinds?
There is deeper water but you need to get
out of the middle & upper part of the lake.

I ended up with 20 largemouth and 5 bows. Most bass were around 12". I saw some larger bass as well as a ton of gills, some nice crappie, and a few big perch, but they were all pretty spooky. It was dead calm, bright and sunny with crystal clear water. If I would have brought a light fly rod I probably could have cleaned up on the bluegill as they were body slamming the big bass bug I was throwing on my 8wt. I tried a small jig for the crappie and perch, but they just looked at it. If I'd really worked on them I might have gotten some, but I wasn't in the mood to clean fish, so I focused on bass. Water temp was 69 which is crazy for this time of year. Launching and beaching a tube is pretty messy as there's about 20 feet of weeds, muck, and shallow water around the reservoir.

Were you fishing the North or the South Lake? I was kind of wondering how deep both were.

Thanks.

I fished the north lake from just east of the boat launch down to the dam, then south to the other shore, then back across to the boat launch. Most of the fish were along the weeds on the north bank.
