Went to Strike for some sturgeon. Had a few bites but only landed one.

I picked up an Okuma conventional reel that has 32lbs max drag, when brining it in, I handed the rod to my friend and told him to crank it down. Well, Mr. Sturgeon didn't like my big butt looking at him and decided to take off and almost pulled my buddy into the water. Would've been pretty funny until he pointed out my new setup would have gone along too.

I thought at one point moss was gathering on my line until I picked the pole up and the moss fought back.

The cat was covered nose to tail in red spots, looked like pimples. He was super fat and seemed otherwise healthy. Considering the irony that I catfish fairly frequently, this was the largest cat I've ever caught, and the only cat that I didn't necessarily want to catch. 80lb mono, 12ft extra heavy pole doesn't make for a very exciting fight, even if the cat is pushing 15.

I wish this weather would stick around a little longer... thanks for reading.

well crap... I still suck at posting pictures here... I think you can click the link anyways.

haha nice post. At least you can click the links and still see the pics. Glad you guys caught a sturgeon. It's nice to break your new rig in on the first time out. I may have to get rid of my 330's and get those Okumas for mine too.

Nice Sturgeon. I am really impressed by the cat as well.

It really isn't that hard to post pics. Just browse, find the pic then hit upload attachment. It is easier if you don't use the inline option.

What kind of okuma reel are you using?

Windriver

Thanks! Yeah, I've used the browse and attach method, but my pics come from my cell phone and the attachments end up being 2 pixels large. I have a program called irfanview or something like that, I should probably use that to format a pic before posting... but I'm lazy.

I got an Okuma SLR-20L. Its a beast, and yes Jer, you should get one too. Lever drag is nice, very nice.

Nicely done.
What part of CJ and what gear/bait were you using for the trout? Bank or Boat?

The sturgeon and cat were below the dam. The trout weren't from CJ. I had caught them earlier from the Boise River and Wilson Ponds in Nampa. Some were dinner, some were sturgeon bait. I was using a little black and gold rooster tail at the river and Wilson. I'm a bank fisherman, unless fishin4days takes me in his boat.
