[center][size 2]Yellow Bullhead [/size][/center] [center](cat fish family)[/center] [center]yellow bullhead are comonly caught from 6 up to 12 inches and weigh up to a pound and a half. they do get larger depending where you catch them. in michigan a 14 inch yellow bullhead is concidered a trophy bull head, the current state record being 3 pounds 7 1/4 ounces. [/center] [left]Found - in most fresh waters of michigan and many other states along lake shores river banks and under bridges. They can withstand wormer waters that will cause others to sufficate.[/left] [left]Bait - common worms (earth, red, leaf and crawler) leaches, hot dogs, liver most any half rancid meat.[/left] [left]Terminal setup - 6 - 8 pound test is prefered for the kitties, they head streat for the weeds and rap up good and tight. when loose from the weeds they bob their heads rampantly. A number #6 hook up to a #1.0 with a long shank to aid in removing the hook.[/left] [left]using a bobber dose work and the kittens will swim up to the bait, but I have found that getting the bait down past the bait steelers quite helpfull to getting in to the big-uns.[/left] [left]Handling - while neting them is helpfull you will want to be sure to have a good leather glove to hold them kittens. they have 3 stingers that are sharp as needles and will draw blood in a second. other than using a glove, you can handle them, but it will take some pratice to master holding them with out getting stung. ]some very good yellow down here and they get a whole lot bigger , say like 45 pounds is biggest i have caught in a big slough down by the river bottoms. was a few years baCK AND WAS A LOT FOR FIGHT AND FUN.RELEASED HIM SO HE COULD MAKE MORE BABYS BUT MAN WHAT A FISH. [cool]
